Control

One of the most anticipated movies of the year has to be Anton Corbijn's black-and-white biopic of Ian Curtis, the late, lamented frontman of exalted post-punk and Goth-rock pioneers Joy Division. Thankfully not so much a hagiographic treatment than it is a linear story that is more or less a straightforward account of Curtis' difficult and short life, "Control" takes literary inspiration from "Touching from a Distance", widow Deborah Curtis's biography of her late husband. Check out the dramatically inclined trailer, soundtracked by some classic Joy Division numbers, and featuring Sam Riley as the man who inspired a few million musical sub-genres.
